Hi, I'm Franke (Frank-EE), a UX designer in Chicago
I'm currently working as a UX Manager at Silicon Valley Bank. I love creating order out of any mess you throw my way. I'm a minimalist, pragmatist, and believe that digital experiences should be simplistic and intuitive at the surface, despite complexities behind the scenes.
A Distilled Résumé
Jun 2008
Graduated from Penn State University (University Park, PA) - BA in Integrative Arts. Began working as a visual designer at Cleveland Metroparks (Cleveland, OH).
May 2009
Dabbled in the world of fashion as an intern at A Supreme Agent (New York, NY).
Feb 2011
Wishing to venture further into the interactive sphere, became UI designer for financial tech firm EvoSpend (New York, NY) to assist with the design of their collateral and mobile apps. Wireframes were often handed off to me for high fidelity designs and I became deeply curious about how they came to be.
Feb 2013
To gather a deeper understanding around the skeleton and structure of effective designs, I honed in on the field of UX and began pursuing my MS in Information Architecture and Knowledge Management under the advisement of IA pioneer Karl Fast. Shortly after, I also joined Recess Creative (Cleveland, OH) as a UX Designer. The team has nearly doubled since then. Together, our work has earned Webby, ADDY, OMMA awards and more.
Aug 2015
Graduated from Kent State University (Kent, OH) - MS in Information Architecture & Knowledge Management. Shortly after, moved to Chicago for the hubby's job, continuing work for Recess Creative.
Aug 2016
Fulfilling my fascination for interiors and the well-nested home, I became a House Tours contributor for Apartment Therapy, profiling homes in the Chicago area.
Oct 2017
With super regional bank KeyBank as my longest running client at Recess Creative, I became interested in further exploring the unique opportunities and challenges of designing products for the financial sector. So after four years at Recess, I joined the digital practice at Capco consultancy in Chicago as a senior designer, primarily focusing on products that serve capital markets and wealth management.
